Role Overview

We are currently seeking Electrical Technicians with HV experience to support a major onshore oil & gas project in South Africa.

This role will focus on the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with project and regulatory requirements.

This is a rotational position offering the opportunity to work on a significant international energy project within a high-performing team.

Electrical Systems Manager - Renewables (Onside)

Role Purpose:

This role is responsible for the management and maintenance of all high voltage electrical systems across the Renewables workstream, with a focus on project management and contestable works. This includes overseeing associated Electrical support team and Turbine Technicians, coordinating with Contractors and Vendors, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards. This role is required to work closely with the Work Management Coordinator for local / daily planning and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

Provide regular project status updates to internal and external stakeholders, including Leadership team and board.Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.Identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery and make recommendation for change to process and procedures.Ensure timely completion of service reporting including materials consumption to allow timely billing to client, by developing standard protocols that are easy to follow and provide a framework to scale the business.Support with effective cost management and reporting for all Renewables works.Manage project risks and issues (and escalate as necessary).Regular work travel and management visits (specifically to Kirkwall, Orkney to support local team).Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions.Develop and maintain good industry relationships with customers and regulatory bodies.Attend and participate in internal/external meetings and forums, as appropriate.Provide support and input to internal audits.Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Technical Delivery

Manage and coordinate service and project activities across multiple wind farms and sites across Orkney, Shetland, Western Isles and mainland Scotland.Remote support and management of the delivery team local to Kirkwall, Orkney' supporting the associated training and competency of personnel.Close liaison with the Work Management Coordinator.Manage the operation and maintenance of all high voltage electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, and distribution panels.Develop and implement strategies for the maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including preventative maintenance schedules and emergency response plans.Lead the development and implementation of electrical projects, including the preparation of project plans, budgets, and schedules.Assist with operational wind turbine troubleshooting when required to support the organisational growth plans.Assist with the supervision and training of Electrical support team, and Turbine Technicians, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development.Coordinate with Contractors and Vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs and upgrades to electrical systems, including the management of contestable works.Collaborate with other departments / functions to identify and address electrical needs, and to ensure smooth operation of all electrical systems.Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards, including OSHA regulations and National Electrical Code standards.Develop and maintain accurate documentation of all electrical systems, including schematics, diagrams, and maintenance records.Work closely with the Group leadership team to determine strategic direction of THREE60 Energy Renewables.Responsible for Comapny Safety Rules and associated documentation to support the Renewables business.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure all work is carried out safely in compliance with HSE policies and procedures.Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations, NERS certification and (in time) ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in line with industry standards.

Business Development

Work with the wider organisation to allow development and growth of more specific turnkey services across the renewable energy sector.Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including service contracts and site expansion.Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and policy developments to inform business strategy.

Financial Oversight

Ensure all projects are delivered on time and within budget and manage change control and variations, where applicable.Monitor and report on project financials, including forecasting and budget management.Lead key cost control activities and facilitate a commercially aware culture.

Emergency Response

Support as part of any local Emergency Response team as required by the Company Emergency Response Procedures.

Competence Requirements

Knowledge & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is desirable.Appropriate vocational qualifications or certification in trade/discipline i.e. HNC or NVQ level 3 - Electrical, is essential.Extensive experience in the maintenance and repair of high voltage electrical systems, is essential.Strong knowledge of relevant safety regulations and industry standards, including experience with contestable works, is essential.Sound knowledge of wind farm service and project management processes and procedures, is essential.Ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential.Full UK Driving Licence, is essential.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in a managerial role within the renewable energy sector, preferably wind energy, is preferred.Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, preferably in a service environment.Strong understanding of turbine operations, maintenance planning, and safety protocols, is essential.Onshore wind turbine experience is preferred.Prior experience in performing SAP duties (Internal / External), is essential.Demonstrated success in business development or commercial strategy, is preferred.Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to lead and manage electrical projects from start to finish, is essential.Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, is essential.Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, is essential.Ability to co-ordinate daily routines and prioritise accordingly, is essential.Good awareness of work planning and scheduling is essential.Financial literacy and experience managing budgets and reporting, is essential.Previous experience in a technical based project management role, is essential.Ability to work independently and manage conflicting priorities, is essential.Experience in risk and change management, is preferred.Influencing and negotiation skills, is essential.
